Best Manual Treadmill Reviews 2024

Finding the Best Manual Treadmill (Non Motorized Treadmill) can be difficult. If you’re ready for a Top Rated Manual Treadmill our review will make it easy.

If you’ve just starting searching for the Best Manual Treadmill our top 5 list will guide you in the right direction.

Speaking from personal experience, a treadmill is the way to go if you’re looking for a great cardio workout. A treadmill helped me lose weight, burn fat and develop muscle. But, I discovered that muscle development often requires more than diet and exercise alone. Sometimes you can’t get enough muscle building nutrients from your diet. If you’re planning to use a treadmill to build muscle while losing weight and burning fat you’ll want to read my article to see if you’re missing important supplements.

However, a few months ago I decided it was time to buy my own manual treadmill and started doing some research. I chose the manual model simply because I was looking for something that was fairly inexpensive and was intended only for occasional use on the days I couldn’t make it to the gym. However, I discovered that a manual treadmill isn’t the right choice for everyone. It could be the perfect solution for some people and yet a very poor choice for others. If you’re really not sure if a manual treadmill is right for you check out my post Treadmill Buying Guide. For your convenience, I have included a complete line-up of Treadmills Here!

Anyway, every product has pros and cons associated with it and a manual treadmill is no different. Before deciding to purchase a new treadmill I decided to list the following pros and cons to make sure I was making the right choice.

Manual Treadmill Pros

  • Great for a small budget, a non motorized treadmill is normally less expensive than motorized (electric treadmill) versions
  • Lighter and Portable (a fold up treadmill is easy to move around and store)
  • Smaller (space efficient – good for tight spaces)
  • Better workout – many people feel a manual treadmill (non motorized treadmill) provides a higher quality workout since you’re using the power from your legs (and not a motor) to move the belt.

Manual Treadmill Cons

  • Lighter Duty – These treadmills are built more for walking or light jogging and possibly occasional light running. They are not designed for constant heavy running. Also the deck on the manual treadmills is shorter and narrower and may not work well for taller individuals or those weighing over 250 pounds.
  • Non Motorized Treadmill – Although this is what you would expect a manual treadmill to be some individuals find it difficult to initially get the treadmill started. However, the beauty of a non motorized treadmill is that once the treadmill is going you control how fast or slow the belt moves.

Best Manual Treadmill Reviews

As with all the products I review, I never base my recommendation on any single factor. My reviews won’t necessarily include the cheapest or most expensive product, only the best. I’ve invested considerable time and effort into reviewing these treadmills and believe I am presenting you with the 5 Best Manual Treadmills (Non Motorized Treadmills) available today.

#5 – Stamina InMotion T900 Manual Treadmill

Best Manual Treadmill for RunningStarting off with my number 5 pick is the Stamina InMotion T900 manual treadmill. Stamina is another company that had two of their manual treadmills place in the top 5. The T900 is very similar to the Stamina II model. It also has the dual weighted flywheels, 2 incline positions, an electronic monitor, can easily be folded and stored and is backed by a one year frame warranty.

However, if you examine both models closely you’ll discover that the T900 has a slightly smaller deck, the handles are straight rather than curved to provide better grip and the base of the treadmill has a different design. In fact this treadmill can only support 225 pounds as compared to 250 pounds the other treadmills can support. This is still a great treadmill and that’s why it’s one of my top 5 picks, but it could only make it to position 5.

Features at a glance:

  • Non motorized treadmill
  • Dual weighted flywheels
  • Two incline positions
  • Electronic monitor
  • Fold up treadmill
  • Supports up to 225 pounds
  • One year frame warranty

#4 – Phoenix 98516 Easy-Up Manual Treadmill

Best Manual Treadmill for RunningMy number 4 pick is the Phoenix 98516 Easy-Up Manual Treadmill. In fact it is the second Phoenix treadmill to make it into the top 5 spots. Actually there are very few differences between the two models other than a $20 price difference. Both models have the heavy duty weighted flywheel, electronic display, can be folded, locked and rolled into storage, have a 1 year frame warranty and can support up to 250 pounds.

However, there are a few subtle differences; the 98516 has a slightly larger walking surface, 1/2″ longer and 1/2″ wider than the 98510. The 98516 does not come with a water bottle or a place to store the water bottle like the 98510. But, the biggest difference is the design of the handle. The handle on the 98516 comes straight out where the handle on the 98510 is curved and easier to grip. I prefer the handle on the 98510 and so do many other owners. That’s why the 98516 is my fourth choice. But, if you prefer the handle design of the 98516 and can do without the water bottle holder this treadmill is a great choice.

Features at a glance:

  • Non motorized treadmill
  • Dual weighted flywheels
  • Two incline positions
  • Electronic monitor
  • Fold up treadmill
  • Supports up to 250 pounds
  • One year frame warranty

#3 – Stamina InMotion II Manual Treadmill

Top Rated Manual Treadmill ReviewRinging in at my number 3 spot is the Stamina InMotion II. It doesn’t matter if you’re a newbie that’s just beginning an exercise program or a seasoned pro who is trying to maintain their fitness levels this treadmill is an excellent choice.

This Stamina treadmill is an extremely quite manually powered treadmill which is quite easy to use. It  features a 42″ deck which can handle either short or long strides, offers two incline positions one at 8 degrees and the other at 10 and like some of the other units offers a multi function monitor that will track your distance walked, speed & the number of calories burned. Even though this treadmill has a heavier duty steel frame and measures in at 46.5″ (W) x 43.5″ (H) x 26″ (D) it can easily be folded for storage. This excellent treadmill is backed by a 1 year manufactures frame warranty and can also support up to 250 pounds.

Features at a glance:

  • Non motorized treadmill
  • 42″ deck
  • Two incline positions
  • Electronic monitor
  • Fold up treadmill

#2 – Phoenix 98510 Easy-Up Manual Treadmill

Top Rated Manual TreadmillThe Phoenix 98510 manual treadmill ran a very close second. It is a very popular and well built treadmill. If you want to purchase a treadmill for your home or office and can’t afford to invest a small fortune this treadmill is a good choice.

Rather than using an electric motor the Phoenix 98510 incorporates a heavy duty weighted flywheel which is very sturdy and lets the users walk or jog at the pace they desire. This unit does have an electronic display which will track your speed, distance covered, calories burned and elapsed time. As pictured the treadmill can be folded, locked and rolled into storage. It has an overall size of 46.5 (W) x 50 (H) x 21.1 (D) is backed by a one year frame warranty and can support up to 250 pounds.

#1 – Avari Magnetic Manual Treadmill

Best Manual Treadmill for Running

Best Manual Treadmill

This is by far my choice for the best manual treadmill for several reasons.

Avari uses magnetic resistance (which has 8 adjustable settings) and provides a smooth quite workout. I believe this technology reduces the hard starts many people complain about with some of the other manual treadmills. Avari also uses a heavier steel frame and warranties the frame for three years (one of the longer manual treadmill frame warranties). The treadmill also offers an 8 degree incline which when combined with the adjustable resistance allows you to customize your workout. I also like the electronic monitor which keeps track of vital information such as workout time, calories burned, distance and speed and even total distance. Yet the treadmill can still fit small areas and is easily relocated since its light weight, folds and easily rolls. The unit also has a larger overall size approximately 47″ long x 26″ wide x 44″ tall and can support up to 250 pounds. I believe this is a great manual treadmill offered at an affordable price. I know this treadmill is a little more costly that the other models I reviewed but I feel its well worth it. It’s not only the largest and heaviest manual treadmill reviewed but, it also has the longest warranty and best design.

Features at a glance:

  • Non motorized treadmill
  • Magnetic resistance, Dual weighted flywheels
  • 8 adjustable settings
  • 8 degree incline
  • Large deck
  • Electronic monitor
  • Fold up treadmill
  • Supports up to 250 pounds
  • Three year frame warranty

Best Manual Treadmill Summary

Best Manual Treadmill Reviews 2019Not only is a manual treadmill generally less expensive than a motorized treadmill, it is lighter, smaller, provides portability and can be folded away for easy storage. And although a manual treadmill is a little smaller that it’s motorized counterpart it still allows you to run, jog or walk and get a great cardio workout in your home or office. A manual treadmill may take a little getting use to since you provide the power to move the belt instead of a motor. And some individuals complain about hard starts when using a manual treadmill but, that problem is virtually eliminated by the magnetic resistance utilized on the Avari manual treadmill, which is our #1 choice.
