- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2014I am beyond happy with this unit. I am 6'1" and 215 lbs. and wondered if it would really accommodate a guy my size, but I use it with no problems whatsoever. Like many others say, I reversed the pull up bar so I could back it up to a wall. I'm a 36" waist, and there's plenty of room between the dip bars for me to do pull ups.
It was fairly easy to put together. Just look at the picture of the unit and the pieces are obvious, then use the directions to make sure you're using the right bolts everywhere. I also recommend leaving everything loose until it's all together, and you don't have to over tighten the bolts when you're done. Just get them good and snug and its fine. I expected the pieces to be made of less sturdy metal, but this is basically the same unit you will find at the gym. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the materials when I opened the box.
Also like many other reviews said, it was a little wobbly once finished because the feet don't all end up perfectly flat. I put four of those sticky furniture foot pads on the bottom and it took care of that right away. If you're putting it on a hard surface get a few of those from your local Target/Walmart/etc. for a couple dollars.
I don't have any complaints about the unit (though it was missing 2 washers in the assembly kit). I set it up in my garage and every time I walk in there I jump on it and do as many pull ups as I can. I figured that for the price it was worth a try, and I am SO happy I took the chance. I'm a very happy Power Tower owner!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2015(Note: I have been exercising in gyms for over 30 years, and as a result I have a lot of gym equipment-related experience.)
Received the XMark Power Tower a couple of days ago, and I immediately set to work putting it together.
Shipping: The seller shipped this item via FedEx Ground, and it arrived in only six days. So shipping was actually much faster than the seller advertised.
Packaging: Excellent. The box itself was solid cardboard, and all interior pieces were wrapped in plastic and/or lighter weight cardboard. No items were damaged or missing.
Materials: All pieces are seemingly powder coated grey. Bolts are heavy duty, chrome plated. Grip areas are rubber, and are sufficiently padded. The back and arm rests are good quality, and are also sufficiently padded.
Construction: Once I had everything unpacked, unwrapped and laid out in front of me it took me a little over an hour to assemble. That said, I'm someone who puts things together all the time - and loves doing it - so two hours is probably a more adequate assembly time frame. All you'll need to assemble this item is a socket wrench set, an adjustable crescent wrench, and some patience.
Usage: Very sturdy. I weigh 200 pounds, and there is very little wobble when doing dips, pull-ups; etc. The height of the pull-up bar, dip area, width of the grips; etc., couldn't be better.
The bottom line: I paid $183 for this item and shipping was free. For the price, this is an excellent value, and I anticipate I will have absolutely no future regrets buying this power tower. If you're looking to purchaser a power tower, I highly recommend this item.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2016Overall seems sturdy. The directions can be misleading but i managed to fix that by using common sense than following the directions. its a decent product.
Cons- padding is terrible.
the back mat and arm rests are slippery making it harder to really do any ab work. the "dip bars" if thats what you want to call them. They are more like handles. They are terrible actually almost dangerous. The little grips for dips actually can promote bad form if you are not careful. The grips for pull ups are very bad. they are spongy and slippery. A thin rubber sleeve could have sufficed. The pull up bar is a bit uncomfortable. what i mean by that is to say that there arent variation handles or additional bars or grips for different types of pull ups. you have, chin ups, wide grip and close grip. thats it for pull ups. thats not very good. 3 stars is mainly for price. i feel like the design could be better and made to be a bit more versatile.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2013I would give it a 5 if it had some minor changes to it. I listed them below.
Pros:
-Surprisingly sturdy for something that gets bolted together rather than welded.
-The cost can't be beat. I got this for around $160 or $170 with amazon prime doing free shipping... yeah even though it is heavy.
-Because it is bolted together I was able to turn the pull up bar support arms around so that the set up is all facing one way. This enabled me to back it up to a wall instead of going parallel.
-It works beautifully as it should.
-Very straight forward and easy to understand instructions although it wouldn't be hard to figure out anyway.
- Short assembly time and easy to do alone(1.5 hrs) although more hands would make it go faster.
Cons:
-Foam grips are terrible. This is the one area that I would rather have nothing or something very thin because it is too spongy. I feel like it is more dangerous to have the foam than to go without.
-Foot pads on base look like they are going to fall off soon but it's not a problem for me because I have this on a carpeted floor with a mat under it to displace the weight over the entire footprint.
-A little warped due to misaligned holes. This would be a problem if I set it up on a hard surface but I didn't. (see above)
Overall I am very pleased with this and like I said I like this a lot and would definitely recommend this to a friend if they were in the market to purchase this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, Great customer service!
So I had problems with my shipment, it got "lost". Phoned Amazon and very quickly they dealt with it and had one rushed out to me with no hassle! Technically it wasn't even Amazon's fault but that of "UPS", none the less they dealt with it perfectly... I barely even needed to say anything on the phone!
As for the power tower itself, it is great. I assembled it my self in about an hour (make sure to read instructions carefully). There are some minor quarks with the product, but for the price one really can't complain. The thing is solid steel, didn't have any misaligned holes or anything like that.
Using all stations and attempting some weird one arm variations I can say that the unit is quite stable when being used in a correct fashion. That being said it does not handle uneven weight well (i.e. one arm rows off the dip bars). This power tower is not designed for that, though looking at all of them on the market, none of them have a form of lateral stability. This can be fixed by using a bar across the dip station or rings from the pull up bar.
All and all if you want something to increase beast body power through calisthenics, and don't want and flowery "features" for a great price then this is the equipment for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars very solid
takes awhile to assemble, but all of the pieces were present, and assembly wasn't very difficult, just time consuming.
Once assembled and all bolts tightened up, the unit is very stable and solid.
Another reviewer mentioned that the unit tips a bit because he is heavy. I can't see how that would be possible. Unless you're swinging on the bar, there's no way this thing is going to tip.
All holes were drilled correctly.
If I had to complain, I'd take issue with the massive amount of cardboard and plastic waste leftover - but this is to be expected.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth it.
Does what intended. It gave me a place to do chin ups and other similar exercises with ease. Much better quality than the hang in your doorway type garbage. I found the foam pieces rolled too much in my hands when doing chin ups so I removed it and wrapped the top bar with skateboard tape for grip. Another option may be to remove the foam and spray the bar with spray adhesive before replacing it. Not a big deal but worth pointing out. After a year or more of use the paint has peeled off on the bottom assembly where the bolts are but it is purely cosmetic. It was very easy to assemble.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't recommend for someone over 180lbs
Kind of flimsy. Wouldn't recommend for someone over 180lbs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid unit and good ab workout
I was told that vertical knee raise exercise is one of the best exercised to the core and abs. However, only gyms have these machines. I started searching online and found this unit at Amazon.ca. The price is excellent considering the package is rather large and bulky. Definitely a two-person job to transport it to my place. It took some time to assemble the unit but the end product is worth it. It is solid (not wobbly at all) and took up less room than I anticipated (width wise if not taking the pull up bar into consideration). I would recommend this product.
